A/P Rosa received the 2026 IADR Innovation in Oral Care Award

Associate Professor Vinicius Rosa was recently awarded the IADR Innovation in Oral Care Award, a highly competitive international recognition given by the International Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (IADR) and sponsored by Haleon. The goal of this award is to support the development of new technologies, biomaterials, and approaches that can ultimately improve oral health in everyday settings. Receiving this award reflects international recognition of the significance and potential impact of A/P Rosa’s work, selected among submissions from researchers worldwide.


The IADR Innovation in Oral Care Award recognizes the potential of A/P Rosa’s work to advance AI-based platforms for biomaterials safety testing.


A/P Rosa’s research focuses on developing new platforms for testing safety of biomaterials research that combine experimental models with artificial intelligence. The project aims to create biomimetic systems that better replicate the environment inside the tooth, allowing materials to be tested under conditions that are closer to those found in patients. At the same time, AI is used to analyze experimental data and guide material design, helping reduce reliance on slow trial-and-error approaches.


By integrating these elements, the work seeks to accelerate the development of safer and more effective dental materials, while reducing the time and cost associated with research. Ultimately, this approach has the potential to bring improved oral care solutions to patients more efficiently.


Beyond dentistry, the concepts underlying this research may also be applied to other areas of healthcare where biomaterials interact with living tissues. This positions the work not only as a contribution to dental research, but as part of a broader shift toward more efficient and impactful innovation in healthcare.
