The episode tackled a common consumer question: with supermarket shelves filled with toothpastes promising whitening, gum health, enamel protection, sensitivity relief, or “all-natural” benefits, how do you know which one to choose? Prices can vary dramatically, with some premium brands costing five to ten times more than regular options — but are these differences justified, or are they mainly driven by marketing?

Host Steven Chia examined these questions in depth, with input from A/P Rosa and other experts. A/P Rosa provided a detailed breakdown of individual toothpaste ingredients — from fluoride compounds to abrasives and humectants — explaining how each contributes to cleaning, protecting, and maintaining oral health. He also discussed the proven role of fluoride in preventing tooth decay, highlighting why it remains one of the most effective and accessible public health measures in dentistry.

This was an important episode underscoring the relevance of oral health to overall well-being, and the value of evidence-based guidance in helping consumers navigate product choices.
